Prettify* Finally Has Its Own Domain →

I don’t search on domain registrars anymore; I use the Whois command in terminal. I don’t know if it makes a difference or not, but it seems to help.

Finally got around to doing something I meant to do more than a year ago—I moved Prettify from a simple Tumblr domain (prettify.tumblr.com) to its own real domain (prettifyit.com) where it will be from now on. All old links will automatically forward correctly.

Annoying story: When I started Prettify back in January of 2009, I searched for domains before coming up with the name and prettify dot com was available. I built the site in a few hours, launched it on Tumblr and went to buy the domain—it was taken. It seemed almost as though someone had seen that I searched for it and bought it. A year later, the same exact thing happened when I searched for a domain for That’s Not Art. Lesson: If you find a domain you want, buy it immediately.
